    Off-Road Racing lawsuits

As, we all had heard and know of the tragic crash down south in the off-road race were scores of people were injured and killed by a truck roll over off a jump, this has spurred major lawsuits, against the government, organizers and others involved, turning what was a freak accident into a tragic nightmare.
As most of us here have either participated in or spectated in some type of racing, whether at a track or in the desert, we all know the inherent risks involved when you are not participating in the event. I am always wary of where I am, and stay clear of what I percieve as danger spots to be in, if there is some mishap on the course. I am sure you all do that too. This tragedy, will have many effects on the future of off-road racing, so keep your eye on this one.
Here is an article, written by J.Harry Jones of U/T San Diego that gives more insight into whats going on.
The Mojave Desert off-road racing accident that killed eight spectators, including four San Diego County residents, and injured a dozen more nearly 19 months ago in San Bernardino County has spawned no fewer than 13 lawsuits against the U.S. government, the race organizers and the driver of the modified Ford Ranger pickup that crushed the victims.
It was a freak accident. If Brett Sloppy, the San Marcos man who was driving the truck, had been going a just the slightest bit faster or slower his tire wouldn’t have hit a rock at the bottom of a jump.
The rock, which protruded about a foot high, caused the truck’s steering system to fail and it overturned, plowing into spectators who crowded around the course.
The survivors of almost all of those who died are suing. So is Sloppy’s mother, who like the rest blame the federal Bureau of Land Management for failing to enforce rules that would have kept the spectators at a safe distance. They are also suing Mojave Desert Racing, Inc. (MDR) of South El Monte, which organized the California 200 race.
Several of the lawyers say MDR has, at the most, $2 million in insurance coverage, an amount that won’t go far with so many plaintiffs. Sloppy (pronounced Slope-Peey) too was underinsured. So it will be the federal government and its millions that will likely be at the heart of the litigation.
“It was a horrific accident that never should have happened,” said Jim Frantz, a lawyer representing survivors of one of the victims, Brian Wolfin, 27, of Escondido. Three of those who died in the Aug. 14, 2010, crash were from Escondido; the fourth victim from the county lived in Spring Valley.
Killed in the accident were Michael Dickinson, 34, of Spring Valley; Aaron Farkas, 25, of Escondido; Danica Frantzich, 20, of Las Vegas; Zachary Freeman, 24, of Fillmore; Dustin Malso, 24, of Ventura; Anthony Sanchez, 23, of Escondido; Andrew Therrien, 22, of Riverside; and Wolfin.
“The United States of America owned the land, and has the bulk of the responsibility,” Frantz said. “It was supposed to be supervising the race but it didn’t.” Sloppy shouldn’t be a defendant, his lawyers say.
The lawsuits eventually will be consolidated in federal court either in San Diego or in Los Angeles. It will likely take years before the case concludes, just about everyone involved agrees.
Robert Muhlbach, an El Segundo lawyer representing MDR, said he expects many more lawsuits to be filed before the statute of limitations expires in August. He said little has been done as far as discovery and fact gathering.
“Hopefully we’ll get the ball rolling soon ...,” he said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not respond to phone calls.
Sloppy and his mother are represented by Rancho Bernardo attorney Ken Greenfield, who says his client is an innocent victim. “I believe the law is clear that he has absolutely no responsibility,” Greenfield said.
Participants in a race like the California 200 are not responsible for the safety of spectators, he said. “It’s similar to the batter who hits a foul ball that hits somebody in the head and kills them,” Greenfield said. “The batter is not responsible. Everyone who goes to a baseball game and sits in the stands knows to be aware of foul balls. Everybody who goes to these racing events are well aware of the dangers.”
Sloppy’s 2000 truck has been sitting untouched in his mother’s garage since the accident. On March 29, a hearing will be held in San Diego to determine if Sloppy can regain access to the truck, which until now has been considered untouchable evidence.
“(Sloppy) grew up fascinated with trucks and his passion extended into his adulthood,” wrote attorney Janice Walshok, an associate of Greenfield’s. She said Sloppy spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars modifying it “to create and off-road racing masterpiece.”
Walshok said the crash has caused Sloppy significant emotional distress. “He is unable to sleep due to recurring nightmares. He cannot walk out of his house without the fear that the press will hound him. He cannot answer the door for fear that yet another process server is there ready to serve him with another lawsuit. ... Receiving vicious emails has become routine. The only thing that spares him from this sorrow is his truck. The truck is his life.” Greenfield said Sloppy is not responding to media queries.
According to the lawsuit filed by Lynne Sloppy, Brett Sloppy’s mother, the cause of the accident was simple. As Sloppy approached the Rock Pile, a place where trucks hurdle into the air off a jump, he saw the driver in front of him had slowed. Sloppy couldn’t stop because another truck was barreling down on him from behind so he decelerated and took the jump. That deceleration caused the truck to land a bit short and to hit the rock.
“(Sloppy’s mother) witnessed her son’s truck land on a rock, causing his truck to flip and roll into and upon the spectators ...(She) witnessed bodies being thrown onto her son’s truck, heard the screams of injured and/or dying people, and witnessed her son’s emotional pain. (She) witnessed an angry mob of people revile her son as he was upside down in his truck.”
Last December, nearly 16 months after the accident, the California Highway Patrol issued its official report. It concluded that when Sloppy’s truck hit the rock it caused a “catastrophic failure” of the steering components. “Mr. Sloppy was unable to react and correct the vehicle’s errant direction of travel."

When & Why to do your top end

By Mark Norman of MNATV service, tuning and repair
First of all let’s all understand what a Top End is. The Top End consists of the Cylinder and the Head.
In the Cylinder is the Piston with rings around it to create a seal with the walls of the cylinder. The Head contains the valves which are made of steal or in some cases other exotic metals like Titanium. These valves are held closed tightly by a spring and in some cases two springs which force the valve closed against a steal seat. The Cam is also located in the head and rotates at a very high speed and has lobes which as the cam rotates the lobes press against the valves to open and close the valves at precise intervals (yes you motor heads, there are other parts but I am trying to keep it simple for the none motor heads). The piston moves up and down very rapidly as the engine runs rubbing the metal rings against the sides of the metal cylinder thousands of times per minute and the valves open and close every other stroke of the piston so things are moving very rapidly in the motor.

As time goes on, dirt particles or maybe a piece of sand comes in through the intake and enters the valve at precisely the correct time that the valve is closing causing a pit in the valve and its seat which causes a leak in the valve. That same piece of sand can also find its way between the rings and the cylinder wall causing a scrape in the cylinder which again causes a leak. As time goes on, these leaks all add up and you begin to notice signs that your engine is losing what we call compression. Compression is one of the four things necessary to make and engine run (fuel, air, compression and spark) so without compression your engine will not run. As you loose compression you will notice a few things such as hard starting, rough idle or even excessive oil out the breather. Another thing which happens even if you are very careful not to get particulates in the engine is piston slap which occurs when the piston rings get warn to a point which allows the piston to rock back and forth inside the cylinder as the piston moves up and down. This causes the bottom of the piston (called the skirt) to scrape against the cylinder wall causing damage to the cylinder wall. Piston slap can result in a very catastrophic engine failure causing much more than a Top End to be repaired.

The top end can be serviced without removing the entire engine from the ATV. In most cases it can be done with the engine in the ATV by removing the fuel tank and some plastics (to save money always remove your plastics before taking your quad in if you’re capable and for heaven sakes wash it so we don’t have to). To do a top end service on an engine which has been taken care of (buy that I mean fallowing the manufactures maintenance schedules and keeping your air cleaner and oil clean) generally all we have to do is hone your old cylinder (takes me 10 minutes), install a new piston with rings, replace the intake valves, resurface the exhaust valves, recut all the valve seats and hone the valve guides There are also gaskets and seals which will also be replaced). In an engine which has been neglected, you can add the cost of a cylinder (about $250.00 or more) and you may also need to add exhaust valves which can add another $100.00 or more to the job. So a job which normally costs $500-$600 in labor and $300-$400 in parts just went up$250 to $350 or more. OUCH! If you wait too long and you have a piston turn in the cylinder or you drop a valve (due to valve fatigue) then all bets are off. Your job just got really expensive! FYI Valves also have a life span and you don’t want to exceed it or BOOM!

There are those people who run their motors until they basically quit and then get the Top End rebuilt without having any problems which is great but if something goes wrong. then the cost of a top end is added to the cost of removing the entire engine to access the rest of the motor by splitting the cases because you bent a rod or worse. So if your quad no longer starts right up or has a hard time idling, get your compression tested or perform a leak down test and if the compresion is too low do the Top End or get a lucky rabbits foot.

After you get your Top End done you will have a motor which starts easily, idles well and has MORE POWER!

Inaugural ‘QuadUP’ Quad Session @408MX in San Jose, California

With over twenty riders meeting up Sunday evening, they were equipped to launch the first of many Quad sessions at 408MX in San Jose. By the end of the first lap, it was clear that the track at 408MX is a rider’s Utopia... This track is awesome!
It has all the characteristics any idyllic run should have; from Whoops and Rhythm Sections, to Double-Doubles and even the Big Triples. The track doesn’t discriminate! Everyone, from novice to expert riders, came off the track smiling and loving it. Not only is this track an opportunity to jump stunts and overcome challenges, it is a chance to have some FUN! The Norcalatv.com community pulled together to ensure a great quad session and to celebrate the first ever QuadUp! event.
All the ingredients for an awesome day were there; Quad talk, laughs and dirt. Plus, there were a couple of BBQs that were cooking up amazing eats. And on top of everything, it was awesome seeing a lot of the XC guys out there. It was an event that fed into a sense of camaraderie, reminding us that regardless of where we quad up, we are all one and the same
Back out on the track, our riders made a statement by being out there ripping it up. One rider really aired it out on the Big Triple in the back. And while the expert riders took center stage, the beginners were getting to live the dream and ride a real track! And not surprisingly, our Norcalians were going all out, trying to get some cool footage and pics!!!! You can only imagine what they will think of next… tandem jumping?!
After a full day of dirt bike riding, the track had a few rough spots. But nothing can take away from the fact that it is a top notch track! Hands down, the 408MX crew is an awesome crew! They asked us what we wanted for the track to keep us happy, and we had nothing because we are nothing but happy with the track! And even if you have tiny complaints, just remember the easier it is for them to be there, the more of these we will have.
Sunday was a great start to a potential QuadUp series. If we keep our numbers up and keep our events planned out, 408MX is more than willing to keep having quad sessions. There is starting to be some talk of weekday sessions, but for now let’s keep up the awesome Sunday SUNDAY SUNDAY sessions! Thank you all you riders!! Not only did we put together an awesome event, but we also were able to show that there is a lot more to Quadders than what meets the eye. Keep quaddin responsibly; see you guys out there next time!

    SX and Yamaha

Supercross in Daytona!! What a mudfest! Wow! In watching this race, as with all SX races I watch, you know the usual questions pop into your mind. Why, cant ATVs have even a small portion of backing that the bikes get. Some support would be nice, thats for sure. It would further our sport, entice new riders into the race scene which also equates into more sale for the manufacturers and more sales for the aftermarket parts. But heck, we all know that and its an old story. But this race was different slightly. If you notice, the title of this is SX and Yamaha. Did you see the change? We certainly did. It was during the usual Yamaha commercial during the races, that I always watch and wonder why oh why dont they show quads on a track or racing like they do for the bikes? Well this time the commercial was different, rather than the usual 4x4 quad ripping and a sport quad sliding, they showed the first turn of a QuadX race with nelson in the lead and said #1 in GNCC and QUADX! I couldnt believe what I was seeing! About time! I personally have written them letters about this very issue, and sent the usual emails. When I spoke with reps at the track for the test drives they do, I always brought this up. Always with hope but now it actually happened. Hey, you may think its small, but showing them in their commercial is a big deal. Kudos Yamaha for putting us in the picture now lets see them build on it!! (Time to start writing again!)

    Sebimagry

Sebastian Lee of sebimagry has been taking great pictures of all of us as of late. With him just appearing at the first MMX practice day, Sebastian has snapped photos of great quality sharpness, and motion. He was at the last CMC practice and race taking some more great photos. The gallery above is a great example of his work, and if you go to his site, you can see more examples of great photos. Make sure and check out some of the non MX photos too! They are really great pics. If you would like a photo of yourself, make sure and check his gallery, its probably there. If not, just send him a message and he will make sure and get some shots of you at the next one. Thanks Sebastian! For some great shots!

    CMC Final Round!

With the rain still falling, and the final round for ATVs coming this weekend, March 4, We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather changes and does not require a reschedule of the final round of the CMC series here in Nor-Cal.
We have had a great turnout this year in the CMC series, with over 20 at every round we have participated in. This weekend, at MMX, we are hoping for another great turnout, keeping our numbers high, making sure we have a spot in the next CMC series coming up right after this one.
MMX, if you have never ridden the main track, is a super fun track to ride. With plenty of nice jumps, great soil, and a good length to the track, it's one you don't want to miss. There is a practice on SAT., so if you are wondering about the track, come out and ride it on Sat, the day before the race. Hope to see more new people there!!

    MMX Practice day

MMX of Marysville, CA held its first ever practice day for ATVs on Feb. 25. It was held on the Sand Track they have at the venue.
This was the first non-rental ATV day we have had at a local track in the past few years! It was a great day for ATVs here in Nor-Cal, to be able to ride the track without the cost of a rental. Saved everyone a few bucks for that day.
The turnout for the day was excellent, with more ATVs there than MX bikes on the Main track during the time I was there. We had all skill levels present at the track and probably a few first timers also. It was great to see all the Quads kickin up the track and having a great time! The Sand track at MMX is a fairly fun track, with plenty of whoop sections to keep you on your toes. It stayed in decent shape for the day, with no major braking bumps or bad sections like we saw during the CMC race held there. This event brought some of the people out that used to race all the time, and have pretty much disapeared when we no longer had places to practice. It was great to see those faces again! There was a photographer taking pictures there, and I must say, he got some great shots! If you would likje to see them go to sebimagery!
In the afternoon (after 2) when the bikes left the main track, they were kind enough to give us the final hour on the main track! I was not present at the time, but have ridden that track and it is a great track to ride on.
With such a great turnout, lets hope that MMX gives us the opportunity again to ride there, and hopefully on the next one, we have another great turnout. Without the numbers, we will not have this place long. So, make sure and tell your friends, bring anyone you can, come to track and ride, and just have an overall great day. Its a blast. I hope to see YOU at the next one! Thanks to Jared Fisher of MMX for putting this on for us!

    CMC round 1!!

CMC racing at MMX in Marysville went off this past weekend with 20 quads on the gate for Moto 1.
With quite a hiatus in racing here in Nor-Cal it was a great day at the track, seeing all the racers once again on the gate. With plenty of new faces there my hopes were rejuvinated when it comes to quad racing in the north.
Moto 1 went off without a hitch, With Jason Mack trying to show off with a wheelie that dumped him off the quad at the gate. Quite a site to see, boy those tires hooked up good! Really though, JMack blew the rear shock, but in true racer fashion, he still finished the race. It did take him out of Moto 2, but there is always a next time. The rest of the field all made it though the race without issues. We had 3 gates, Pro, AM, and Beg. and all were on the track at the same time, making scoring difficult at best for the track crew.
In Moto 2 we had a huge wreck on lap one with 2 riders involved, sending one quad cartwheeling off the turn. One rider came away ok, just bruised up and the other went to the hospital to be checked out. From what I am told he is Ok, with just some bruising and pain to keep him company.
With the track, being a sand track, conditions were rough, both for the bikes, who also had plenty of crashes, as well as the quads, making the race a tough one for all the riders. It was a great day in Nor-Cal to be racing again and round 2 at Argyll MX is only a few weeks away. I hope more people come, and the new people do not get discouraged, Argyll will be much more forgiving than MMX was, (other than the ruts). Thanks to everyone who showed and See you at Round 2!!

Sierra Club loses Pismo lawsuit on appeal!

By KAREN VELIE of Cal Coast News.com
The local chapter of the Sierra Club lost its appeal on Monday to force off-road vehicles from a portion of the Oceano Dunes that the state rents from San Luis Obispo County.
In 2008, the Sierra Club filed a lawsuit claiming vehicles should be banned from the state’s vehicular recreation area’s 584-acre La Grande Tract. The club argued that the County’s Coastal Plan Map lists it as a buffer zone which means vehicles are banned. Superior Court Judge Charles Crandall ruled that it was too late for the Sierra Club to mount a challenge.
Not only did the Second Appellate Court uphold Crandall’s decision that it is to late to fight the state’s 1982 Coastal Development Permit, the appellate court also determined that having the area dubbed a buffer zone does not mean that off-road vehicles should be prohibited.
“Despite two pleading attempts, Sierra Club has failed to allege that State Parks has a clear and present ministerial duty to ban off-highway-vehicle activities on the La Grande Tract,” the appellate court decision says. “Sierra Club is barred from collaterally attacking the 1982 Coastal Development Permit by suing for mandamus, declaratory, or equitable relief.”
The court also ordered the Sierra Club to pay cost and certified the appellate court’s unanimous agreement for publication.
This does not mean we are out of the woods yet, another lawsuit, by the Friends of Oceano dunes regarding the new dust rules adopted by the state is still pending. read more about that here.

    ATV/MX on NBC Sports

Yes, you read that correctly! Versus TV, which used to have some races broadcast has now become part of the NBC Sports Network and will be broadcasting under that name. Following the merger of NBC Sports with Comcast cable which owned Versus, they officially became part of the NBC network and began broadcasting under that name this month.
Now, to get the programming of ATV races on the NBC Sports Network, Racer TV will be the vehicle used to put that programming on the air. Racer TV is intending to air GNCC along with ATV MX National series and the AMA amateur nationals. In the past the coverage has been spotty for ATV racing and lets hope that the new Racer TV helps to bring ATV racing to a new level with its deal to produce for the NBC Sports Network. Racer TV is a fairly new vehicle for MX sports coverage but this time its the same people who are the promoters of the ATV MX nationals. This is the group that also runs RacerX magazine.
Back in the day when ATV Racing was growing and getting great TV time and sponsorship,(WPSA), things were looking good! But suddenly, and profoundly, funding dried up, sponsorships dropped out and the WPSA was done. This is when the AMA stepped in and sold the rights to promote the AMA outdoor nationals, along with the ATV/MX to Daytona Motorsports group who sold it to Racer Productions. Racer Productions, in their announcements of the new series, promised it would be bigger, better with more TV and sponsors than ever....... well since they have taken it over you see for yourself where it has gone. With more pros moving into the NEATV series, they have their hands full just keeping what they have together at this point. Racer TV, Racerx mag, and Racer Prod. LLC are the new promoters and distributors of the ATV/MX nationals now, with the Coombs basically at the wheel.
The Coombs, Dave and Carrie, whose father founded the NPG (national promoters group), to promote outdoor MX, had great success with this model, are the ones that founded the ATVPG (ATV promoters Group), taking some of the members from the NPG to form the nucleus of the new ATVPG. The ATVPG are the ones that assemble the schedule for the ATV/MX Nationals, basically a group of tracks and owners who came together to host the series under the umbrella of the new ATVPG. To me this presents a slight conflict, with track owners being the ones deciding where and when ATVs race. Which shows in the locations for the races. In a true AMA/NPG model, we would be racing in district races, just like in MX, competeting for the chance to move to the national level. But we lack the building blocks of the district racing to promote, and bring new riders in and without that I personally can see no real increase in opportunity other then our local MX tracks and series that will host us. Lets hope that the new Racer TV will air enough of the ATV/MX to truly bring the sport into the mainstream and thereby give us more access to tracks, racing and general exposure of the sport of ATV Racing.

    CMC Motocross Quad Racing Opener

Northern CA ATV/MX is back!! Thanks to the effort by the people at Immortal ATV, CMC Motocross has given us the chance to show them we really would like some ATV/MX back here in Northern CA. With the difficulty we have in retaining racers, we must all give it up for those good folks to step out and make the opportunity happen for us to race MX again. With low numbers in the last season we were able to race, CMC Motocross took a one season hiatus on ATV/MX here in the Northern Locale. We need to bring those numbers up! In the past, our numbers have been good and its time to bring them back with a vengeance.
Bring your family, friends and get them all on a quad for entry to the race. Weather you are new to ATV/MX or a seasoned vet, it's our only local MX series that we have a chance to run with. With only 4 rounds of racing for us this season the time is now to step up and give it a try its fun, the people are great and the competition is fierce, with some of the veteran racers stepping back in to lend support.
We here in Nor-Cal love our sport and this is one way to show how much we do. With great numbers, and some time, the possibility of getting the tracks to open to us for some practice all rests in how well we show here. So, please come out and lend support, show them we really want it back! For the schedule and more information on CMC Motocross please follow this link.

    WORCS Racing Season to begin

WORCS racing season opener on Jan 20-22! You read that right! WORCS racing is set to begin!
This challenging and fun series kicks off soon, with riders coming from all over the west to compete in this mix of Off-road and MX racing at its finest. WORCS racing always puts on a professional showing with the likes of Baron, Nelson, Fredericks, Warnia and others competing for the title of WORCS PRO CHAMPION and to get that #1 Plate.
With the Pro races a grueling 90 minutes of bone jarring madness, its amazing to see the pace they run for the full 90 minutes! That, coupled with a pit stop makes for some exciting action on the course as the pros use everything they have, from speed, endurance and strategy, to become the next WORCS champ.
Granted, the WORCS races are a bit of a trip for most of us here in Nor-Cal, but this season brings WORCS closer than ever with a round in Taft and a round in Gorman. Both of which shorten the drive a bit for us.
Its a weekend of fun for all, with classes for all riders of all levels! And don't forget the WORCS kids program, they always have something fun planned for all the little ones on Sat. Night! Its a family they have at the WORCS races, from the time you show up till the time you leave, there is always plenty going on to see, from practice on Friday to the Pro race on Sunday, its packed full of great ATV racing for all.
Beginner? Yes, you have classes on both days, if you so desire. Intermediate? Ha, the competition is the best, with large gates and a long race its time to show if you really have the skill, endurance and patience to show you can race with the best. So, give it some thought and check their site, to see photos, videos and more at WORCS RACING. Give it a try, you will never forget the fun you have!

    QUADX ATV Motocross Championship Series

The Yamaha/QuadX National series is set to start on March 10! This Pro Caliber ATV/MX series, is packed with 10 rounds of pure ATV/MX adreniline! Its a fast and furious pace as the riders gear up for pure MX on some of the best tracks have to offer. With the Pro Race a 20min plus 2 lap event, its all out from the drop of the gate with white knuckle excitement as the racers go wheel to wheel for the first turn! If you've never seen the speed at which the Pros can kick up the dust, this is the venue to do just that. Nelson, a multiple time and current QUADX Champ, will try to hold off the rest of the pack as he tries to reign in another series championship. This year, QuadX has added 2 new venues to the list, both top notch tracks to add to the excitement of the races. QuadX does have classes for all from beginner up, so don't be afraid to give it a try. Like all ATV/MX series its a friendly atmosphere there, where you can walk the pits, meet and greet the pros, and see how much effort goes into the sport of ATV/MX. Its a grueling pace, coupled with side by side action at the races and if you are of the competitive nature, this is a very competitive and full on MX series. Its a fun weekend, with practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday to participate in. If this does not get your blood goin, well, then there is not much hope. Cause this racing is full on. Check it out at Yamaha/QuadX!!

    SCCS Round 5 "Event Review"

by JMack

Sept 23rd-25th was the date for the last round of the SCCS series. It was held at Blue mountain event center in Willseyville Ca. This is the second time SCCS has held a race here.
With temps reaching 100 degrees down in the valley,  it was nice to have much cooler temps up in the mountains. With classes to race for everyone in the family and a fantastic location, campers filled the property by Friday night ready to race the following day. The course consisted of the same layout as the previous visit to Blue Mountain which consisted of uphill's, downhill's, road jumps and creek crossings. With much dryer conditions the dust was more of a factor this time. Holeshots were key to pulling off a win here, and with each class the course got rougher.
Saturdays pee wee classes, and Moms class started off the day with some close races. The afternoons C class races were even more exciting with tight racing and some close finishes. Finishing off the day was the sportsman race, which is a non points class meant to give anybody who wants to race an extra class for practice.
Saturday evening after the races concluded the property owners had a local band come out to entertain everyone at the group campfire. Not only was the entertainment great, but the Famous elk burgers were the talk of the camp. By sunday the course was at its worst with huge ruts, large exposed roots and deep powder whoop sections! The B and expert class racers fought hard battles through the extremely rough course and did not disappoint the spectators. The racing was tight in all classes with some great action through out the course. With spectacular racing action, and a great venue this was another amazing event put on by the SCCS. If you haven't made it out to one of these event yet, you really need to bring out the family and give it a try. Whether your a beginner rider, or want to get your child into a great sport like ATV XC racing. This is the place to get started. With a great family atmosphere and racing for everyone in the family, the SCCS is something everyone needs to check out. For more information, visit SCCS RACING.com

    SCCS Racing Round 5

SCCS Racing round 5 kicks off on Sept. 23-25. SCCS is GNCC style racing held all on private properties.
If you are in the dark of what GNCC style is, it's a race developed to test the endurance of both the rider and the machine. With races that are 75minutes long, it gives the rider plenty of time to strategize and plan the way they will run the race. This is an off road type course, with creeks and hills to add to the challenge. Round 5 will be held at Mitchell Mill Ranch in Wilseyville CA and is set up to accomodate the entire family. With races for all classes of rider, there is a race for you. This is an opportunity to give racing a try, and even get the kids involved. Kid classes are on a shortened course with a shortened time, so even they will have a great time. Check the flyer for more info. Follow this link: SCCS Racing
